A Step-by-Step Guide to Caring for Your Steel Entry Doors

Like your roof, windows and siding, your entry doors are an important part of your home. Like the aforementioned components, they not only protect your home from the elements but helps you maintain your home’s aesthetic appeal as well. In order to maintain these benefits, however, you need to properly care for your entry doors

In this article, Abby Windows, one of the country’s best door replacement companies, gives a step-by-step guide to help you care for your steel entry doors.

Step #1: Make Your Solution

The first step in caring for your steel entry door is by making your solution. To do this, simply mix a teaspoon of mild dishwashing soap into two cups of warm water before pouring it into a spray bottle. On the other hand, if your door has tougher stains, experts recommend that you use trisodium phosphate, an all-purpose cleaner that doesn’t harm most surfaces.

Step #2: Cleaning Process

Once you’ve created the solution, you can now start the cleaning process of your new entry doors. Place an old towel, rags or layers of newspaper at the bottom of the door to catch drips from the solution before spraying your mixture on the surface of the door and allowing the spray to run down. When spraying, make sure you’re as thorough as possible. Once you’re done, wipe the door with a rag to remove the grease, dirt and grime and repeat the process until your door is completely clean.

Step #3: Rinsing and Drying

After you’ve thoroughly wiped down your door with the solution, rinse it off with clean water before drying the door down thoroughly with a soft rag. After this, your steel entry door should be as clean as can be.

Our Reviews

Abby came to evaluate the job and make recommendations as to the type of windows and doors. We chose double-hung, triple-glazed Preservation windows and doors by Alside. Abby followed up by sending her lead measuring tech to get exact dimensions and make installation notes re: threshold modification, etc.
